Early in my career after completing a rotating management training program, I worked in a trust administration position at Chase Manhattan Bank, and part-time on market research projects at J Walter Thompson Advertising Agency. My experience also includes: clinical psychological practice; software research and development at Pennsylvania State University; and clinical psychological services in private child and family guidance centers. From 1978 until 1994 I worked part-time as a psychologist and internal consultant at Group Health Association—a large Health Maintenance organization that was brought out by Humana. My work at GHA progressed from psychological services, to quality assurance system development and auditing, consultation on people problems organization wide, marketing research and development, planning, and Board sponsored advisory task groups as well as assistance during buy-out by Humana. Since 1982, I have been part-time in management consulting practice on projects — one project was for a Partnership of IBM, COMSAT Aetna — SBS with John Malone and Eastern Management Group — project scope included Focus Group Research with purchase decision makers of corporate telecom companies in the US. Another was focused on development and implementation of an advanced computerized Marketing Information and Communication System for Pharmacia and other companies — one result of these projects was installation of System 4 Team based management for B to B marketing. In addition I have experience as an owner and Director of two consulting firms: Georgetown Consulting, Inc.1993 to 2000 and Prodesse Business and Engineering Consultants, LLC (1995-1998). I also served as head of the Consulting Division for Presidentialmuseums.com, Inc. and Director and Co-founder, Presidential Museums Foundation (2000- 2004). My work with the museum community resulted in some publications by the Museum Trustee Association on management auditing and phases of corporate development as well as influential role in studies and development of a book titled “Trustees of Culture.

In addition have served as President, Institute of Management Consultants for the Washington, DC Region, 2004-2006, and have been a CMC level member of Institute of Management Consultants USA since 1980 as well as a Director of Sequoia Presidential Yacht Group LLC 2001-2014 . Currently I serve as President, US Asian Cultural Academy since 2006 and a member of capachina.org since 2011. Regarding my career history -- in addition to business development functions and some fund development projects, my consulting work has been focused on Corporate Development, specifically in three areas -- management auditing, marketing research and development, and consultation targeted to change management. This includes management style, stress management, team development, and executive and management counseling and venture capital development campaigns. My consulting project style usually is as a participative consultant working side by side with client staff and bringing in associate specialist as needed. My experience has been with several US companies engaged in US and international business. As a result of my experience, I have developed methodologies, which have resulted in influencing significant client success for some US and international organizations. A major theme of my work is to internally strengthen an organization (whether it is a company, a non-profit, a small family business group, a team, or company division) so that it can achieve external market place success. This is done through consultation interviews with individuals and groups – the interviews are focused on developing management skills, situation analysis Crisis Management and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. Results of such projects are insight as well as knowledge about one’s own personal and corporate developmental history. Details involve the identification of stresses and fears and reducing them, strengthening confidence, identifying and stimulating the context in which best efforts and results can be achieved. Some of this is active teaching of management techniques so that individuals can become relaxed despite the presence of tense situations- thus allowing their strengths to surface and positive results accrue. For example, some program titles are: Management Auditing - A Catalytic Tool; Reactions to Implementation of New Technology and Systems; How to Manage Your Boss--an Upward Management Program; Qualitative Market Research and Development, and, Critical Incident Debriefing. Such projects are team based and run via Systems 4 Management.

As of 1990 I also became engaged in work part-time as an investor – specifically learning and implementing quantitative and qualitative methodologies applied to investment decisions. This includes computer assisted value screening and stock selection as well as qualitative factors related to management evaluation—this includes being a partner in a private investment partnership (Taurus Group), and membership in National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC). As a result of my experience with investor relations professionals, I have learned that very important information about investing and consulting project development comes from corporate investor relations departments. This information is obtained from documents review and interviews with investor relation’s staff as well as corporate management and executives, and, it does lead to consulting engagements targeted to company and share value improvements.

I have also been on the Boards of several nonprofit organizations where I have been an officer and  have engaged in team based fundraising. Oneproject was as an Advisory Board member of the Friends of Great Falls Tavern – our project was to raise funds and purchase a barge for the C& O Canal, Potomac Maryland. I also have been on an Advisory Board for the Library of Congress Asian Division and served a term as President (2005 to 2014) which resulted in some China travel andpresentations  to several China University groups, and alliance development with China organizations, divisions of the World Bank Group and the US Naval Academy.

My formal education has been interdisciplinary at the undergraduate and graduate level in psychology, sociology, and business areas: AA Degree from Boston University; BA, from W. Va. Wesleyan College; M.Ed. and CAS from Springfield College Graduate School; Ph.D. from Pacific Western University and post graduate studies, research and teaching at Pennsylvania State University.
